Updates and Moving to a New Domain

Hey everyone,

Life has been too busy for me to post consistent drama recaps since I haven't been watching consistently. However, I have been reading more and marathoning dramas when I do have time so I will post future drama musings/reviews on my (CNovel translation blog) on Wordpress. The platform on Wordpress allows me to reply to comments from my phone which is super convenient.

Combining my intersts in one blog will also hopefully mean I have more time to update since everything will be in one location.

Love Me if You Dare Episode 3 Recap

Though each episode has a lot of scenes, I don’t really mind that much anymore. This episode in particular develops the mystery and delves into the crime-solving that we’ve been waiting for.

Love Me if You Dare Episode 2 Recap

Finally, episode 2 is done! Sometimes the scenes are kind of choppy in this drama and require more transitions to make it flow in writing. 

There were also definitely a few creepy scenes in this. Some of the serial killer they are chasing. And a couple of the mysterious creepy "mastermind". 

Song in the Clouds Episodes 14 and 15 Recap

So I typed this a couple of weeks ago when these episodes were airing. Lately I started a new job and with that came a lot of other things I had to take care of so no time to even watch dramas.

My plan is to 1) find what I've written and edit, and 2) summarize some episodes and describe scenes I like more in more depth. This way, I'll at least sort of catch up.

First Episode!!! I've been so excited for this to come out that I wrote and edited this before the next episodes for Song in the Clouds. 

Song in the Clouds Episodes 12-13 Recap

Guess drama marathons are super productive to recaps. I marathoned about 6 episodes the other night and am now just editing what I had written up. Episodes 12-13 are centered around Meng Jue. Though I'm not his biggest fan in the novel, I do think I like him better in the drama. This is not to say he is my choice in male lead, but I still like him a lot more than what he was written to be.

I've finally semi-caught up with watching this week. This past week has been much more busy than expected but now that I have stuff written some stuff down, I just need to edit before posting. Like I predicted these next couple of episodes have a lot more politics so I recapped the fun scenes and skimmed on politics. I dont think it actually takes away from the drama to not watch for every detail of the politics.

Song in the Clouds Episode 9 Recap

This episode is hopefully the end of all of Yun Ge's moping over the fake Ling Gege. There have been some chatter that Du Chun is not a good fit (due to looks) for the character Meng Jue. I think his looks are similar to other male leads in Asian dramas. I agree that he does wear some hideous outfits. But based on looks alone, I think he looks better than Lu Yi as Ling Gege. And he isn't wearing nearly as much makeup as Chen Xiao as Liu Bing Yi. I only like Lu Yi best because of his character.

Song in the Clouds Episode 8 Recap

In this episode we get to see more of Meng Jue's actions and how he manipulates others to gain power. Though it isn't really what we may want in a male lead, I can't help but be impressed by how cunning and strategic he is. He's been hurt a lot all throughout his life but now that he has Yun Ge, maybe he'll have some real feelings.

Eye Catching Posters for Journey of Flower

Stumbled upon some artistic promotional posters for The Journey of Flower so thought I'd share. I really like how each of the main characters has one and they look pretty as well!

Now that the drama has finished airing, I may watch to see if it is worth the hype. The plot for the novel did not seem like something I would enjoy but maybe the drama is just too pretty to pass up.

Princess of Lan Ling Extended Trailer

I've been looking forward to Princess of Lan Ling (Lan Ling Wang Fei) ever since it started filming. Though it has been over a year since end of filming, it still doesn't have a set release date yet. On the bright side, the extended trailer was released last month and it's just so much prettiness put into one drama. The actors, clothing, and set are all stunning.

Song in the Clouds Episode 7 Recap

A big part of this episode was character building since we get to see how each character thinks. We start to see a calculative side of Meng Jue and also how Liu Fu Ling stays true to his values (and still remembers his promise to Yun Ge). Both male leads also get time with Yun Ge. I wonder who everyone is rooting for after this episode.

Song in the Clouds Episode 6 Recap

"Alright!" This mirrors my current outlook on recaps for Song in the Clouds.

This episode was quite eventful so I'm recapping it on its own. With this episode done, I'm making good headway catching up to the weekly updates. Thankfully this drama isn't a daily drama!

In this episode, Yun Ge finally meets the second male lead as an adult. Though she still isn't the brightest bulb out there, she seems to be more reserved in this episode.

These three episodes mainly set the foundation for the plot. I wasn't sure to title this a recap or summary. It starts out as more a summary and then becomes more recap-like.

Love Me if You Dare - Trailer Translation

After some searching, I couldn't find an English subbed translation for the trailer so I translated the sweet trailer since it was readily available on youtube. (Trailer at the end of post)

Angsty Character Stills from Love Me if You Dare

With the drama turnover being less than two months from end of filming to air date, the author of the novel Ding Mo has been weibo-ing (Chinese Twitter) lots of stills. Though these shots seem dramatic, I think it was meant to generate interest. Everyone looks pretty and we get a picture of everyone in the main crew.

Oh My Ghost - Review

Lately I haven't been drawn to any new Kdramas for the first time after a not-so-short hiatus. I'm actually not sure why there's been such a shift in my normal watching routine. I did watch Oh My Ghost a couple of weeks ago and it was surprisingly addicting.

Song in the Clouds First Impressions

Song in the Clouds also known as Yun Ge from the Desert is a novel adaptation currently airing. Not sure how I feel about it after the major changes made due to SARFT since I only just finished the first two episodes. So far, the drama adaptation seems to be very different. Other than some of the main character names, the plot also seems quite different.

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival everyone! Lately I've been following the upcoming drama "Love Me If You Dare" also known as "He is Coming, Close Your Eyes" adapted from the book《他来了，请闭眼》. Close Your Eyes was one of the first books that got me into reading Chinese novels so depending on whether the drama is good, I will likely recap/summarize it.
