I've been looking forward to Princess of Lan Ling (Lan Ling Wang Fei) ever since it started filming. Though it has been over a year since end of filming, it still doesn't have a set release date yet. On the bright side, the extended trailer was released last month and it's just so much prettiness put into one drama. The actors, clothing, and set are all stunning.
In the past year since I've been waiting for the drama to air I have read the novel titled "Lan Ling Huang Fei" that the drama is adapted from. There is a pretty major change in the title by substituting "Huang" (novel) for "Wang" (drama).
Huang literally translated "yellow" means from the royal family thus referring to the wife of the emperor. Wang on the other hand can mean "prince", "leader", or "king" which is more ambiguous since it could refer to either Chen Yi as Lan Ling Wang or Zhang Han Yu as the royal king.
The novel is actually a time travel piece but since China has strict rules on time travel, the drama adaptation does not have the time travel element. Since I now know the general story, I'm no longer checking for updates daily. But I do still want to see the drama on screen.
