Song in the Clouds Episode 10-11 Recap

I think this picture sums up their relationship in these next few eps. 

I've finally semi-caught up with watching this week. This past week has been much more busy than expected but now that I have stuff written some stuff down, I just need to edit before posting. Like I predicted these next couple of episodes have a lot more politics so I recapped the fun scenes and skimmed on politics. I dont think it actually takes away from the drama to not watch for every detail of the politics.

Episode 10

Yun Ge wakes up and Meng Jue insists on helping her put on a special medicinal concoction that will not leave scars. Then they go out and he says that he will no longer tell others that she is his younger sister – because he is afraid that she will think that she is just his sister.

Awkward confession time – so cute! Yun Ge starts singing the song she sang for Liu Fu Ling while deciding to be with Meng Jue. Liu Fu Ling hears this and runs out stumbling like a crazy person trying to find her. When Yun Ge hears someone call her name, Meng Jue says that he is calling her from his heart; and she believes him...

Liu Fu Ling has an angsty moment drinking and reminiscing by himself.

Then there is a lot of politics, but I didn’t really pay that much attention.

Hong Yi tells Yun Ge that Meng Jue isn’t able to taste things. She then tests him and sees that he cannot taste. Huo Cheng Jun comes in and sees them holding hands and asks to talk to Meng Jue alone. 

He breaks up with her by saying that they were never together and she has mistaken her niceness. He adds that she only was nice to her because it is a business transaction.

The princess asks Yun Ge to make a dish that will elicit memories of family and childhood so the emperor will remember their blood relations. Yun Ge makes a dish, ruins the emperor’s painting, fixed it, and once again misses seeing him… And Meng Jue rejects Huo Cheng Jun a second time.

They return home and everyone is united. Meng Jue takes Yun Ge out on a date and they kiss.

Episode 11

Yun Ge and Xu Ping Jun are kidnapped. Meng Jue uses his sect leader position to order people to look for them. Yun Ge cooks for her kidnappers? And poisons them and they both make a run for it and then they are finally saved. Yun Ge faints in Meng Jue’s arms.

As the princess discusses with her male servant how no one will be celebrating her birthday with her, Yan Wang sends her gifts when no one else does. She wants to make an alliance with Yan Wang. 

Shang Guan and Sang official also sent her gifts.

The emperor is keeping his distance from the princess. Being too close will put her in a bad position and he doesn’t want to drag her into this.

There’s a lot of politics basically all about one of the emperor’s relatives finding support and trying to overthrow the emperor. There’s a lot of fighting and death which makes the emperor sad that everyone hates him and his life is sad. It’s not like he even asked for this position. *Mope*

Everyone is invited into the princess’s birthday banquet and there is a lot of politics. Shang Guan family is behind this rebellion and everyone in the Shang Guan family is killed except the queen who is also from Shang Guan family. Liu Fu Ling did not attend the banquet but had to escape his palace that is surrounded. Mysterious people dressed in white come to the rescue when Yan Wang surrounds the palace and helps Liu Fu Ling escape.

Huo Cheng Jun’s life is even worse when Huo Guang (her dad) kills her older sister’s husband (from the Shang Guan family). The princess watches all of this as well. Huo Cheng Jun's older sister Lian Er cries that her father said that he would save her husband and then cries to save her child… But of course her brother is ordered to take her away. Lian Er commits suicide. Sigh, guess the Huo Family is just as terrible as I remembered it.

After Shang Guan family is killed, it’s the princess’s turn. The princess was aligning herself with Shang Guan and Yan Wang so…

I feel bad for both the male leads. Meng Jue actually likes Yun Ge now, but his past is so sketchy so there's always that eery side to all of their current happiness. Are you guys on a ship? I wonder if anyone roots for Meng Jue. 

Overall I think the acting has been consistently alright throughout this drama. Other than the first two episodes with the child actors, the adult males are all pretty seasoned. Angelababy as Yun Ge has also been good because she nails the "clueless" look. At first I didn't think I'd like her, but now I can finally say that I like her.
